Boko Haram Attack Claims Lives of Four NSCDC Officers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the death of four officers who were ambushed by bandits in the Farin-Kasa area of Chukun Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

On November 18, the agency reported that suspected Boko Haram terrorists had ambushed its monitoring team in Kaduna, leaving seven officers unaccounted for.

Afolabi Babawale, the NSCDC spokesperson, explained that the attack occurred while the team was inspecting the national grid installation in Shiroro, Niger State.

In a statement released on Friday, Afolabi disclosed that four of the seven missing officers were found dead. He also noted that two officers had returned injured, while one remains missing following the incident.

“As of today, out of the seven missing officers, four dead bodies had been recovered, two men returned back to base unhurt while one personnel is still missing in action,” he said.

Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC Commandant-General, expressed his condolences to the officers and personnel of the Corps.

“Ahmed Audi, NSCDC commandant general, saluted the gallantry, bravery and courage exhibited by the operatives during the ambush, and pledged that the Corps would cater for all their medical expenses and other welfare needs.

“He also condemned the bloody terrorist attack and described it as a brutal and devastating act of violence which must not be allowed to fester considering the number of security operatives that have fallen,” Afolabi added.

The Commandant-General also appealed to the public to support the Corps and other security agencies in their efforts to improve the security of lives and property.
