It has been different strokes for different aspirants at the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party primaries across the country.
In the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, incumbent senator representing the FCT, Senator Philip Aduda, emerged the winner of the People’s Democratic Party senate primaries.
In Enugu, there were huge losses with Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Reps, Toby Okechukwu, losing his bid to return to the green chamber. He was defeated by Anayo Onwuegbu. Okechukwu has since condemned and rejected the process. Honourable Pat Asadu also failed in his bid to return to the House of Reps, with Vitta Abba clinching the ticket for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency. Hon. Asadu’s loss comes amid stiff opposition to a fifth term bid, especially from the people he represents.
The House of Representatives primary elections in Ekiti State witnessed some violence as party delegates disagreed with the results of the exercise in some places…In Ido Ekiti, Babatunde Ajayi defeated the secretary of the PDP in Ekiti State, Funmi Ogun. In Aramoko Ekiti, Lere Olayinka defeated Victor Adeyinka in the Reps primary poll, a situation which didn’t go down well with Adeyinka’s supporters. Some of the candidates condemned the use of godfatherism and urged the leadership of the party to allow the will of people.
