Biden Wears Trump Campaign Hat In Surprise Show of Unity At 9/11 Memorial Event

In a surprising moment during a 9/11 commemoration event in Pennsylvania, President Joe Biden briefly donned a red Trump campaign hat. 

The incident occurred while Biden was visiting firefighters near the site of the Flight 93 crash, where he engaged with a Trump supporter and swapped headwear in a light-hearted gesture.

Video footage from the event shows the president chatting with the supporter, offering him a hat with the presidential seal, and jokingly trading it for the man’s “Trump 2024” cap. Amid cheers from the crowd, Biden initially resisted, exclaiming, “I ain’t going that far!” before eventually putting on the Trump hat for a brief moment.

The White House later clarified that the gesture was intended to highlight the unity theme of the day, with Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates explaining on social media, “As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap.”

The incident, which took place during a commemoration of Flight 93 – the hijacked plane that passengers heroically brought down on 9/11 – quickly caught attention on social media. Donald Trump’s campaign responded with humour, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “Thanks for the support, Joe!” alongside a photo of Biden in the trademark red cap.

The daughter of the man who swapped hats with the president, Kelsey Simmers, shared that her father, known for his sense of humour, didn’t mind the exchange. “My pap don’t care who it is. He likes to joke and have fun,” she said.

The moment occurred just hours after former President Trump made a light-hearted jab during a debate, joking about sending Vice President Kamala Harris a “Make America Great Again” hat.
