Bauchi State SSG Resigns, Governor Appoints Chief of Staff in Acting Capacity

Barrister Ibrahim Kashim has resigned as the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG).

The SSG’s resignation was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, in a statement which he made available to journalists on Friday.

He said that the Governor, Bala Mohammed, approved the resignation of the SSG from the State Executive Council.

Gidado said that the Governor directed the immediate take over of the position by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Gamawa, in acting capacity.

The statement was entitled: “GOVERNOR BALA MOHAMMED ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF THE SECRETARY TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT.”

No reason was however, given in the statement for the resignation of the SSG and he is yet to make any public pronouncement.

It reads: “His Excellency, Senator Bala A . Mohammed, CON, Fnipr (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya) the Executive Governor of Bauchi State , has accepted the resignation of the Secretary to the State Government Barr. Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim with immediate effect .

“The Chief of Staff, Government House , Bauchi , Dr. Aminu Hassan Gamawa, has been directed to take over from him in an acting capacity.”

The Media Aide, said that the Governor, Bala Mohammed, on behalf of the government and the people of Bauchi State, thanked him for the services he rendered to the State and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Until his appointment as SSG in June 2021, Kashim was a one-time Director-General, Bureau for Privatisation and Economic Reforms.

He hails from Bauchi local government area and attended many institutions in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

He is a former lecturer at Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto and retired in 2015 as a Director in the Presidency (Bureau for Public Enterprises) where he headed various departments and acted as the Director General.

Prior to the 2023 gubernatorial elections, Kashim, resigned his appointment and contested for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, and became the flag bearer unopposed.

But following the defeat of Bala Mohammed, from the PDP Presidential primaries, Kashim, stepped down for the Governor to pave way for his second term in office. The Governor then reappointed him as SSG.
