Bauchi Police Assure Residents of Enhanced Security During Festive Period

Bauchi Police Command has assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Auwal Muhammad, has assured residents of the State that the Command has put in adequate measures to ensure their safety and their property before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He said that the Command is collaborating with other sister security agencies in the State to ensure a hitch-free festive period.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police, has directed the deployment of sufficient personnel to guarantee comprehensive security throughout the State.

These were stated by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi Command, Ahmed Wakil, in a media statement made available to journalists in the State on Tuesday.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, said that the Police Boss, “in anticipation of the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, scheduled for December 25th, 2024, and January 1st, 2025, respectively, the Bauchi State Police Command, under the leadership of CP AUWAL MUSA MUHAMMAD, extends warm wishes to the citizens of the State. The Command reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents before, during, and after these celebrations.”

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police has mandated the deployment of sufficient personnel, including both conventional police and tactical teams, along with necessary logistics to guarantee comprehensive security at all strategic locations across the State.

“All personnel assigned to this important task have been given explicit instructions to maintain a professional and civil demeanour while executing their duties effectively.

“The Commissioner of Police wishes the general public a joyful Christmas and New Year celebration, urging all citizens to use this time for introspection and to offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of both the State and the Nation.

“As the Christian community commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Commissioner expresses goodwill to the public and calls upon religious leaders, worshippers, and residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies. Comprehensive security measures have been established to facilitate a seamless celebration,” he stated.

The PPRO further said that additionally, the Commissioner has directed all Area Commanders, departmental heads, and Divisional Police Officers to implement both overt and covert security operations to protect lives and property.

He said: “Security coverage will be provided at all places of worship and recreational centres, and proactive measures will be taken at identified trouble spots. All police divisions have been instructed to enhance their neighbourhood policing strategies.

“Consequently, a high-visibility policing approach will be maintained before, during, and after the celebrations. Police patrol vehicles will be strategically positioned along highways, while undercover operatives and foot patrol officers will ensure coverage in all areas.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi state government has distributed food items worth millions of Naira to the christian faithful for this year’s Christmas festivities.

The Chairman, Standing Committee for the distribution of Christmas gifts to christians in Bauchi, Abdon Dalla-Gin said that the food items include 1,510 bags of 80kg rice and 179 Jerricans of Groundnut oil, 72 bulls and 139 Rams.

Dalla-Gin who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on Civil Service matters, while briefing journalists at the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board Secretariat, said that the gesture of Governor Bala Mohammed of the state was meant to enable the christians celebrate the Christmas with ease.

“The 2024 Christmas day holds tomorrow the 25th of December. I must reiterate that since the inception of Governor Bala Mohammed administration, he established the tradition of providing food items to the christian Community to enable them have a pleasant commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

“This year, His Excellency the Executive Governor approved substantial funds for the purchase of the food items amidst the well-known excruciating inflationary trend been experienced nationally”, he said.
