Speaking about the ongoing battle in the People’s Democratic Party between Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike and other party members, former National Chairman, Abubakar Baraje said on The Morning Show that it cannot bring the party to its knees.
Following Governor Wike’s loss at the PDP presidential primary, and an alleged snub for the running mate role by the party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar, reports and actions of Governor Wike leaving the party have grown.
However Baraje, praises the composure of Governor Wike, defending his actions saying he has not done anything outside the stipulated rules of the party and remains not just a party member but a leader in the party.
Thus, the party is going through the proper channels to resolve the matter.
He adds that, despite the commotion over hastening the resolution of their differences, PDP still has plenty of time to resolve its differences before the election, and it will continue to meticulously adhere to the guidelines that govern the reconciliation procedure.
Baraje then appealed to the public, particularly those aggrieved by the situation to be patient and give the party time to settle their issues. In light of this, he assured that the issue with Governor Wike is not out of the ordinary and has no power to cause the party’s downfall.
