Olubankole Wellington, the house of representatives candidate Eti-osa constituency for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), says he is in politics to build a bridge into mainstream politics.
Wellington, popularly known as Banky W stated this during an interactive session on the Morning Show.
He said that politics will always be dirty and dangerous until good people start to be intentional about putting like minds in the system.
He said he’s contesting not to defend PDP’s history but to reform its future.
When asked why he chose PDP he said, “I questioned myself on where i can go into without losing my soul, being able to stand for what I stand for, fight for what I fight for and PDP ticked the boxes for me. It is truly a democratic party.”
The former musician said he wanted a political system where it is truly the will of people that counts. He enunciated that a system is only as good as the people involved in it. The real opponent in politics is apathy, he said.
He stated that reform can only happen at the table of the government and by the grace of God he’ll be successful and start with the work he has always wanted to do.
