The hits keep coming from Afro-pop diamond Ayra starr.
The singer-songwriter only released her debut single, “Away”, last year, followed soon after by a critically revered debut album, 19 & Dangerous, and things haven’t slowed down since.
Last week, she revisited one of the tracks on the album, “Bloody Samaritan”, to remix it with some guest vocals from none other than Kelly Rowland and now the new version has a video.
“Bloody Samaritan” first got flipped earlier this year by South African DJ and producer Sun-El Musician, who transformed it into a dense and bassy club remix that blended West and South African influences.
This new version, however, keeps the original structure, but elevates it with Rowland’s soaring vocal runs.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Kelly Rowland and when this came up, I could barely keep in the excitement,” Ayra said in a statement. “While recording this, Kelly made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, something I really appreciate. She was super-amazing, and I was able to hold my own alongside a legend and I can’t wait to share this new music with you all.”
The new remix will appear alongside recent single “Rush” on a new deluxe version of 19 & Dangerous that’s expected to drop next Friday, October 14. Peep the new video at the top and be sure to add the “Bloody Samaritan” remix with Kelly Rowland to all your playlists.
