As the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari winds down, Nigerians are beginning to look forward to electing his successor.
In the southwest geo-political zone, three names are on the lips of many as front-runners in the 2023 presidential race.
They are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and, of course, former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who recently returned to the country after months of convalescence for an undisclosed ailment in London.
Since Tinubu’s return, his friends and supporters have shifted into high gear soliciting support for his candidature.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu and other politicians in the state have also launched the South West Agenda, tagged, “SWAGA 2023,” which has been linked to Tinubu.
Ayo Opadokun, spokesman of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, discusses the emerging political permutations in the southwest.
