Aviation Minister Keyamo Inspects Infrastructure Upgrades at Lagos Airport, Applauds Public-Private Partnership

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has paid a working visit to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on Friday, inspecting ongoing infrastructure upgrades at the airport’s E-Wing.

A statement released by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser to the Minister, outlined that Keyamo was accompanied by senior officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), including Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, Director of Operations Abdullahi Zubeir Mahmood, Director of Engineering Engr Abiola Adejare, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Obiageli Orah, and Director of Special Duties Jensen Asaba.

The infrastructural upgrades, according to the statement, form part of the Ministry’s Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Initiative, a key component of the Minister’s 5-point strategic roadmap.

The initiative, spearheaded by FAAN’s Managing Director, is aimed at strengthening public-private partnerships to enhance infrastructural facilities at FAAN-managed airports nationwide. The plan underscores the Ministry’s commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency.

Moshood stated that one of the key highlights of the inspection was the successful renovation of the E-Wing toilets, completed by Max Impact Africa. The upgrade, which adheres to international standards, sets the benchmark for future renovation projects at airports across Nigeria.

During the inspection, Minister Keyamo praised the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme as a crucial step in transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector. He emphasised the need for sustained partnerships with the private sector to keep the country’s airports competitive in a fast-evolving global aviation industry.

The Minister also used the occasion to officially launch the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme. This marks the start of a broader nationwide effort to elevate the quality of airport services and infrastructure across the country.

This is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing Nigeria’s reputation in the global aviation industry and contribute to the nation’s economic development by improving airport facilities and services.
