The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25, 2023 election and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, will address a crucial press conference on Monday, apparently in reaction to last Thursday’s Supreme Court’s judgment affirming the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku lost the petition he filed to challenge President Tinubu’s victory after the apex court confirmed that he was duly elected president.
According to a statement from the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, the press conference will focus on issues of serious importance to the nation.
Though it is not known what would be the focus of the press conference, there are speculations that he would react to the judgment and probably congratulate Tinubu, his former political ally.
Some of his close associates told THISDAY that since the highest court in Nigeria had spoken, the former vice president has no alternative than to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court.
With the outcome of the Supreme Court judgment, PDP leaders will now focus on the battle for the control of the soul of the main opposition party as elders of the party are said to be mounting pressure on the former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki to vie for the position of the national chairman of the opposition party.
