Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has proposed that the Nigerian government should offer amnesty to criminal herdsmen engaged in banditry and kidnapping.
According to Gumi, the Nigerian government should also negotiate with southeastern separatists, IPOB.
Urging the government to embrace dialogue, he mentioned that Boko Haram had once shown willingness to negotiate an end to insurgency by trusting current Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari to negotiate on its behalf.
Another former president, Olusegun Obasanjo is another who he claims is open to dialoguing with Bandits to bring an end to terrorism in the country.
Gumi was on Wednesday a guest on ARISE NEWS’ Morning Show.
