The tragedy occurred at a satsang, a prayer meeting, in Mughal Garhi village, Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, according to officials.
This village is about 200 kilometers (124 miles) southeast of New Delhi. Police in Hathras district confirmed that at least 60 individuals have died.
An additional 27 people were pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital in the nearby Etah district, per police and health officials.
