At Least 11 Dead In Ukraine Due To Russia Missile Strikes

Russia missile strikes on Sunday in a popular lakeside resort near Ukraine’s second largest city, along with attacks on surrounding villages resulting in at least 11 death and many injured.

The attacks are part of ongoing Russian aggression in the Kharkiv region of north-eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops have been engaged in offensive actions for several weeks.

At the lakeside resort area, Valentyna, 69, who had just lost her husband by the water had blood running down her face as her home was destroyed and a close busy restaurant was wiped out.

She said while pointing to area of the missile strike “to lose my husband, to lose my house, to lose everything in the world, it hurts, it hurts me,They (the Russians) are animals, why do they need to kill people?”

The missile strike occurred twice. The initial strike caused 6 deaths, 27 injured and 1 missing. 20 minutes later, the second strike which targeted emergency crews at the scene.

Yaroslav Trofimko, a police inspector who arrived after the first strike and was then caught up in the second.

“There were never any soldiers here, It was a Sunday, people were supposed to be here to rest, children were supposed to he here, pregnant women, resting, enjoying a normal way of life.”

Later in the day, 5 more deaths and nine injured in two villages within the Kupiansk district which according to local governor Oleh Syniehubov was Russian forces targeting the two villages with a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher.

Another five people were killed and 9 injured later in the day in two villages in Kupiansk district. Local governor Oleh Syniehubov said Russian forces shelled two villages of the district with a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged Western allies to provide Kyiv with extra air defense systems to secure Kharkiv and other urban areas.

He noted on telegram that “The world can stop Russian terror and to do so, the lack of political will among leaders must be overcome.”

He added that “Two Patriots for Kharkiv will make a fundamental difference.”
