Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Signs New Three-Year Deal Ahead of North London Derby

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new three-year contract with the club, extending his stay until 2027. The Spaniard, whose previous deal was set to expire at the end of this season, will see his tenure with the Gunners continue for another three years.

The club is expected to officially confirm the contract extension before Arsenal’s highly anticipated North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday.

Arteta, who was appointed by Arsenal in December 2019 after serving as a coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, replaced compatriot Unai Emery. He swiftly led the Gunners to an FA Cup victory in the 2019-2020 season, securing his first major trophy as a manager.

Since taking the helm, Arteta has guided Arsenal to consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League behind Manchester City, as he aims to steer the club to their first league title since the 2003-04 season.

This season, Arsenal have started strongly, winning their first two games against Wolves and Aston Villa before being held to a draw by Brighton. After three matches, the Gunners sit in fourth place in the league standings.

Arteta, a former midfielder, made 150 appearances for Arsenal during his playing career and also captained the team, cementing his legacy both on and off the pitch at the club.
