Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry Front Runner to Become Next Bournemouth Manager

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is the front runner to become Bournemouth’s new boss.

The Cherries board are recommending to owner Russian businessman Maxim Demin, that the 43-year-old Henry succeeds Jason Tindall who was sacked two weeks ago.

The choice for Demin is understood to be between Henry and former Huddersfield boss David Wagner.

But the club’s hierarchy are huge fans of Henry and see him as the man to improve their fortunes.

Should the board get approval from owner Demin, they hope to approach Henry’s club, Montreal Impact, for talks for the Frenchman to take over.

Bournemouth sit sixth in the Championship and are determined to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

Henry – who signed a two-year deal with Montreal in November 2019 – has previously managed Monaco and has been on Roberto Martinez’s coaching staff with Belgium.

Tindall – who worked as Eddie Howe’s assistant as the club rose from League Two to the Premier League – was sacked after six months following four straight defeats.

Henry’s former Arsenal team-mate Patrick Vieira and Aston Villa number two, John Terry have both been on the Bournemouth shortlist.

But the Cherries preference for a boss with previous experience ruled Terry out.

Caretaker boss Jonathan Woodgate has enjoyed two wins and a draw since taking caretaker charge and is expected to be in the dug-out for tonight’s home game against Rotherham.

He is set to continue on a temporary basis while Bournemouth resolve their managerial situation but has so far not been in the running.
