ARISE NEWS Digital Named Best Online News Platform At 2021 GAGE Awards

The digital arm of the ARISE News channel has won the online news platform of the year award at the 2021 GAGE Digital Awards which held Saturday April 24.

ARISE NEWS, which is beamed to a global audience from offices in Africa, Europe and America, was chosen from a competitive field including BBC Pidgin, Punch Online, Opera News and Channels TV.

ARISE NEWS Digital has helped disseminate global news from an African perspective to the furthest reaches of the planet.

It includes arise.tv which was re-launched to critical acclaim September 2020, and vibrant social media platforms across Twitter – @ARISEtv; YouTube – @Arise News; Facebook – @Arise News; and Instagram – @Arisenewsofficial.

Also at this year’s awards, MTN Nigeria won the Data Service Provider of the Year category in a tight battle of data networks in the country.

This category was an audience choice category and MTN wrestled away the crown from Airtel who were defending the title they won last year.

Nairametrics picked up the Blog of the Year among other top blogs and DSTV Nigeria website won the Website of the Year among four other outstanding websites.

High-end mobile phone brand, Oppo, won the Online Campaign of the Year with their #ShotOnOppo campaign.

Other big winners include Big Brother Naija star Nengi Hampson who beat Erica Nlewedim, Pamilerin Adegoke, Aisha Yesuf and Tomike Adeoye to become Africa’s best Influencer of 2020/21.

Online Comic Act JOSH2FUNNY made history by becoming the first-ever GAGE STAR Award winner and Mr Macaroni was voted comedian of the year.

The 2021 edition, hosted by actress and reality tv star Bisola Aiyeola, was fully virtual, leveraging the best of technology to broadcast proceedings at the event.
