APC Aspirant Paul Chukwuma Slams Soludo as Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Another in Anambra

Gunmen operating in Anambra State on Tuesday night shot dead an unidentified man, abducting one more from their vehicle.

The two men were attacked in Ifitedunu community, Dunukofia Local Government Area, while travelling in a Nissan SUV with Lagos registration number; SMK 439 Hi.

A viral video of the slain man, circulating on social media showed his body lying lifeless in the vehicle in the pool of his own blood, while the driver who was travelling with him was abducted by the criminals.

Members of Ifitedunu community vigilante who rushed to the scene said the incident happened around 8pm. A voice in the video said the men were chased from a neighbouring community to Ifitedunu by men driving an ash coloured Lexus Jeep.

They said items in the car showed that the men were returning for Christmas, while calling on anyone who knows the vehicle or the slain occupants to come for them.

Meanwhile, governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Paul Chukwuma has expressed unhappiness over the killing of a lecturer with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr Osita Chinedu, charging Governor Chukwuma Soludo to sit up and secure the state.

Chinedu was on Monday evening gunned down by armed robbers when he resisted their attempt to hijack his car for an operation.

Chukwuma said: “We should all be worried at the ease with which criminals carry out their operations in our dear state. How could violent criminals gun down a citizen at the strategically busy Aroma Junction in the heart of Awka and escape without any challenge at all? Is that not a blow to our pride as a decent people.”

He challenged the APGA government in the state to sit up for once and prioritise the safety and security of Ndi Anambra over and above grand rhetoric and tenuous claims to building roads and bridges.

“Roads and bridges are for the living, not the dead. The sooner we realise this, the better for us all, because maybe the huge security votes drawn from the coffers of Anambra State shall finally be invested in securing public safety for all.”

He decried the worsening insecurity in the state, declaring that the freedom enjoyed by criminal elements in the state had become unacceptable.
