The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has expressed its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reappointing Festus Keyamo (SAN) as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
In a statement released by AON President, Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, the association praised the president’s decision, noting it reflects Tinubu’s commitment to the continued growth and advancement of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Since his initial appointment, Keyamo has made significant strides in the aviation sector, setting new standards for leadership. According to Sarina, Keyamo’s advocacy for policies that facilitate the ease of doing business has brought about crucial reforms.
He lauded his proactive engagement with industry players and his focus on both safety and operational success for local and international airlines, which has helped to restore confidence in the sector.
“His proactive engagement with the industry, his focus on safety, and his commitment to the success of both local and international airlines have restored confidence in the sector. It is clear that he has the best interests of the nation and the aviation sector at heart.
Through his dedication to implementing the Cape Town Convention, Honorable Keyamo played a pivotal role in improving Nigeria’s aviation rating from 40% to about 80% in a short period of time. His efforts in ensuring compliance with international standards facilitated greater access to aircraft financing and leasing, which bolstered the operational capacity of airlines and contributed significantly to the sector’s growth.
The reappointment of Hon. Festus Keyamo stands as a testament to President Tinubu’s vision of excellence and progress for Nigeria. We believe that every government is ultimately judged by the caliber of individuals appointed to critical positions.” He said
Sarina, speaking on behalf of AON, pledged the association’s continued support for Keyamo as he leads the sector through what has been described as an era of unprecedented growth and innovation.
“we pledge our continued support for Hon. Keyamo as he leads us through this era of unprecedented growth and innovation in the aviation industry. We also commend President Tinubu for his remarkable foresight and wisdom in entrusting the future of Nigerian aviation to such an able leader.
“Together, we are confident that the skies of Nigeria wil continue to soar higher, and the country’s aviation sector will remain a beacon of excellence on the African continent.”
