Another Oil Spill In Bayelsa – ARISE Special Report

A massive oil spill is polluting farmlands and a creek in Lasukugbene community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Of Bayelsa State.

The people claim to have noticed the oil spill on the 3rd of February from the Tebidaba/Brass Pipeline of OML 63 laid by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company since 1974. The pollution has halted the agrarian lifestyle of the people who are now earnestly calling on the State Government to compel the Nigerian Agip Oil Company to come to their rescue. The oil company stopped the spill on the 18th of this month but is yet to issue a statement about what may have caused it.
