Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement after eight years, Jolie’s lawyer confirmed to media outlets. Brad Pitt’s legal team has not issued a statement in response to the news.
The couple, famously known as “Brangelina,” married in 2014 after meeting on the set of the 2005 action-comedy “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”. Together, they share six children. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences,” which led to a prolonged and contentious custody battle over their children.
In 2021, a judge ruled in favor of joint custody, marking a significant step in their separation. Details about the terms of the recently finalised settlement remain private.
Both Jolie and Pitt have left an indelible mark on Hollywood. Jolie, who has starred in films like “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, “Changeling”, and “Girl, Interrupted” (for which she won an Academy Award), has also become known for her humanitarian work.
Pitt, an Academy Award-winning actor, is celebrated for roles in “Fight Club”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, and “Twelve Monkeys”. Beyond acting, he has also established himself as a successful producer through his production company, Plan B Entertainment.
The marriage was Jolie’s third, following unions with actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller, and Pitt’s second, after his marriage to “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston.
