Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been detained in Romania following the issuance of European arrest warrants by UK authorities, according to their representative.
The allegations, spanning from 2012 to 2015, include charges of sexual aggression and exploiting individuals in Great Britain.
The Tate brothers vehemently deny all charges, categorically rejecting the accusations. Romanian police stated that the European arrest warrants were issued for sexual offenses, leading to the detention of both men for 24 hours, pending a decision by the prosecutor attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
The representative for the controversial influencer described the arrest warrant as a “bewildering revival of decade-old accusations,” expressing the brothers’ dismay and deep concern. The statement indicated their full commitment to challenging the charges with determination and resolve.
McCue Jury and Partners, the law firm representing four British women accusing Andrew Tate of rape and sexual assault, revealed that they had written to British police, expressing concerns that Tate might attempt to leave Romania, where he is scheduled to stand trial for rape and human trafficking.
The law firm then expressed gratitude for the prompt action taken by British authorities.
In December, Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate, both dual UK-US nationals, were restricted from leaving Romania by a local court. This decision came after the brothers sought permission to visit their mother in the UK.
The Romanian authorities are already investigating the Tates over separate allegations of rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal gang, charges that they adamantly deny.
The accusations centre around their alleged exploitation of women through an adult content business, which prosecutors claim operated as a criminal group.
Two female Romanian associates were also named in the indictment, and seven alleged victims were identified.
Andrew Tate, known for his controversial views and previous social media bans for expressing misogynistic opinions, has consistently maintained that Romanian prosecutors lack evidence and asserted that there is a conspiracy to silence him.
