Anamero Dekeri: Edo Central, South Have Governed Enough

A member of the House of Representatives, Anamero Dekeri popularly known as ‘DANCO’, on Thursday called on Nigerians to shun politics of turn by turn popularly known as zoning or power rotation and embrace competence and merit. He also claimed that since Edo Central and Edo South Senatorial Districts have had more share of political power, it was time for his people in Edo North to produce the next Governor in the election scheduled for September 21.Dekeri, representing Etsako Federal Constituency of Edo State in the 10th National Assembly stated these during a press conference to announce his entry into the governorship race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ((APC).He said, “Edo state is standing on a tripod – North, South and Central. Prof. Ambrose Folorunso Alli was the first Governor of the then Bendel State. “Since the advent of democracy, Edo South has produced four Governors: Samuel Ogbemudia, John Odigie-Oyegun, Lucky Igbinediion and Godwin Obaseki.”Edo North has 36 per cent in terms of population and only produced one Governor, Adams Oshiomhole. All states in Nigeria should see beyond turn by turn mentality. “The APC in Edo State is not the ruling party. We can’t give what we don’t have. We want to wrestle power. We’re are not asking for too much. I’m not aware of any consensus agreement or candidate in the APC.”The lawmaker also said he was committed to a a transparent and accountable leadership,. prioritizing the needs of the people, adding that although Edo State is a diverse tapestry of cultures, he would embrace the diversity as his source of strength. While expressing his commitment to the Edo-Project and the well-being of his constituents, he said his vision for Edo State is one of progress, prosperity, and pride as he aspires to create an environment where every child has access to quality education. He said, “Together, we can build an Edo State that exemplifies good governance, with the welfare of the people at the forefront of every decision.”I am committed to transparent and accountable leadership, prioritizing the needs of the people. We will work together to eradicate corruption, create a conducive business environment, and ensure that the benefits of democracy reach every corner of our beloved state.”Friday Olokor, Abuja
