Anambra LG Polls: Residents of Insecurity Ravaged Areas to Vote in Council Headquarters

Anambra Police have assured adequate security for Saturday’s local elections, relocating voters from insecurity-prone areas to council headquarters.

Police in Anambra State have assured of adequate security in Saturday’s local government elections in the state, saying that residents of areas prone to insecurity will vote in local government headquarters.

Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam stated this in a press conference on Thursday.

He said: “Places like Lilu, Iseke, Ubuluisiuzo, Mbosi where there is insecurity would vote at their local government council headquarters, and there will be provided security and facilities there.

“We have deployed enough manpower in the state to ensure adequate security, and we are assuring people of their safety.”

He said there will be restriction of movement, and that police will enforce it from 8am to 4pm, while enjoining the citizens and residents of the state to take the restriction seriously.

He continued: “We are calling the attention of the public, Anambra people and residents as they have always done in the past to come out and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.

“For us we are on ground to provide security and ensure everywhere is safe and ensure that as much as possible the will of the people will prevail.

“We hope that everyone will conduct themselves with dignity. All the entry points into Anambra State would be blocked and there will be restriction and we hope people conduct themselves responsibly.

“It is not a do or die affair and we hope that everyone cooperates with us to ensure a seamless exercise,” Itam said.
