Amazon has partnered with hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion to promote its 10th annual Prime Day discount event, set to take place on July 16 and 17.
The partnership is aimed to drive sales and attract more consumers to the online retailer’s two-day discount bonanza.
Megan Thee Stallion has released a new original song, “It’s Prime Day,” accompanied by a music video featuring her shopping on Amazon. The video showcased her purchasing various items, including a pink dog collar and fake eyelashes.
Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon Prime members, who pay $14.99 per month or $139 per year for access to deals, free shipping, and other perks.
While Amazon doesn’t disclose revenue from these events, it has been hosting more frequent sales to attract consumers dealing with rising credit costs and high inflation.
This year’s Prime Day would mark the start of the back-to-school shopping season and would be available to Prime members in 24 countries.
Amazon has previously held successful sales events in October and March, and expects strong participation in July’s discount event.
Megan Thee Stallion’s Prime song would be available exclusively on Amazon Music, and early deals would be offered on items from her new tour merchandise collection. The partnership aims to draw in more shoppers and boost sales for Amazon.
