Africa’s top public relations company BHM is partnering with global communications firm Allison to host a special event at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York City.
The event, called the “Africa Breakfast Convos,” will take place on Friday, 27 September 2024, at the World Trade Center, bringing together key business and government leaders from various African nations.
According to a press release on Tuesday, the gathering will focus on important sectors like telecommunications, finance, entertainment, government, technology, and trade, highlighting the vast potential for economic growth across the continent.
With 70% of sub-Saharan Africa’s population under 30, the continent’s youthful energy is attracting significant global attention. Experts predict that by 2030, one-fifth of the global population will be African.
The “Africa Breakfast Convos” will showcase how Africa’s young population can drive economic progress and help achieve sustainable development goals.
It was also stated that the event will feature panel discussions, keynote speeches, and networking sessions that explore key topics such as big business, technology, pop culture, the creative economy, soft power, and geopolitics, with the goal of highlighting Africa’s innovation and expertise in these areas.
Claudine Moore, Managing Director, Africa at Allison, emphasised the importance of the event, saying
“The ‘Africa Breakfast Convos’ represents a unique opportunity to bring together influential voices and decision-makers from across Africa and beyond. We’re excited to again facilitate meaningful dialogue during the United Nations General Assembly when Africa is a focus and we are collectively working towards collaboration driving sustainable growth and social impact across the continent.”
On his part, Femi Falodun, Executive Director of BHM, said “This event underscores Africa’s position as a land of opportunity for investment and collaboration. By showcasing the continent’s dynamism and potential, we aim to foster partnerships that will contribute to shared prosperity and sustainable development.”
This event is said to align with the themes of UNGA79, focusing on Africa’s role as a key player in global progress. It will also stress the importance of business in driving sustainable development and the opportunities for collaboration with Africans in the diaspora.
This is coming right after the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), according to the World Economic Forum, announced 73 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects in Africa worth over $53 billion in the past year, alongside significant growth in the technology, renewable energy, and healthcare sectors across the continent, positioning Africa for remarkable progress.
