The former Chief whip of the senate, Ali Ndume, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to address the planned nationwide protest over economic hardship using dialogue. Ndume gave the advice on Monday, ahead of the planned protest, billed for August 1st across the country. According to the lawmaker, talking with the organisers who are predominantly young people, would help in dousing the tension and avert the planned demonstrations. Ali Ndume’s comment aligns with that of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
The NLC in a statement on Monday, appealed to President Tinubu to dialogue with the leaders of the planned demonstration, saying that Tinubu should invite the leaders of the planned protest and listen to their grievances. A video of the Chairman of the Nigerian association of refrigerator and air condition practitioners, Jobi Oluwarotimi, lamenting over the half bag of rice, reportedly given to him by the federal government to share with more than 300 practitioners in Ondo State has made the rounds on social media.

A women’s rights advocay group, called the Voices for Inclusion and Equity for Women have called out Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for his alleged disrespect of female senators.

Reacting via a post on Instagram; the actress described the allegations as a very wicked lie, adding that she has never met the senate president and also threatened legal action against the blog for trying to tarnish her image.
