Senator representing Borno south, Ali Ndume, on Wednesday narrowly escaped a process that could have led to his suspension from the senate. Cyril Fasuyi, the senator representing Ekiti north, had raised a point of order, saying that Ndume breached his privilege when he alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is populated by kleptocrats.
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, have expressed support for their counterpart in Rivers State, Sim Fubara. The PDP Governor’s Forum voiced their solidarity for the Rivers state governor in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting in Enugu.
The governors said ‘wider consultations’ with stakeholders should be deployed for a peaceful resolution to find a lasting solution to the political crisis in the state.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has debunked reports circulating on social media, claiming that his son, Umar Zulum has been arrested for alleged Murder of a Chinese national, in India. In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, The misinformation was published on an online blog, Nairaland, titled Son of Borno State Governor Murders Someone In India.
The blog claimed that the Governor also travelled to India, attempting to use diplomatic status to resolve the matter. The statement also clarified, that the Governor was not in india but was on a one-month vacation in Saudi Arabia; for the 2024 Hajj and later travelled to Egypt to attend the annual ASUWAN forum conference in Cairo.
The Governor also issued a warning to online bloggers that have spread the misinformation to pull it down, within the next 24 hours, and offer an unreserved apology or risk legal action.
