After several days in the police custody, a magistrate court in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos state has granted bail of N1 million to #EndSARS protester Eromosele Adene.

The Yaba Magistrates Court ruled against an application filed by the policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department seeking to remand Adene for an extra 30 days.
Adene’s lawyer, Tunde Jinadu, Tuesday confirmed that his client had been granted bail and had earlier approached the court to grant his client bail on medical ground.
Adene had been accused by the police of criminal incitement, cyberstalking, provoking a breach of public peace, and conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace. He is yet to be formally charged.
Tuesday’s hearing was held to determine whether authorities could keep the #EndSARS protester in detention while they investigate the 27-year-old’s case.
Adene’s case has drawn much attention since he was arrested at his Ikeja home in Lagos on November 7 for playing an active role in the peaceful #EndSARS protests described by many as the blatant abuse of power and injustice demonstrated by the Nigerian Police while holding him.
