Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has charged African leaders to learn to prioritise serving their people and not making life difficult for citizens.
He made this statement at the maiden edition of the African Heritage Concert and Awards in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday where he bagged the ‘African Democracy and Peace Icon Award’.
Jonathan reiterated that leaders should be concerned about the legacies they are going leave behind and avoid turning themselves into bosses of the people.
He highlighted that the duty of an executive president is to run the affairs of the country properly and not to dehumanize human beings and make their lives difficult.
He stressed that it is necessary for a leader to always think about what he/she would be remembered for.
He thereafter said that the important things a leader wants to be remember for is what should guides it’s decisions.
