The National Organising secretary of Afenifere, Abagun Kole Omololu has blamed the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for provoking the present reaction from the leader of Britain’s Conservative Party, Mrs. Kemi Badenoch.
Omololu accused the Vice President of not being diplomatic in taking on Mrs. Badenoch, he insisted that: “At a level of international diplomacy, we have to be cautious. Rt. Hon Kemi Badenoch is a British citizen with total allegiance to her country.”
He said: “Our vice president was undiplomatic in addressing Mrs Badenoch’s experience. What should concern the vice president is government policy and programmes. Government priorities are the concern of the vice president. Mrs Badenoch’s experience is not. Let us address her experience and not her person.
“Her office is as important as that of the office of the Prime Minister. We should respect her office. She is in the British government establishments; she is an official of the government. Let us address issues with informed opinions. Did the VP seek the opinions of trained diplomats before he spoke? If he had, he would have been more cautious.”
He added that: “Culturally, children born and raised in the UK tend to speak to the situation as they see forthrightly. They correct their father not to lie to the police if they drink and drive. That is their society.
Maybe Badenoch is knocking sense into our situation.”
