Adele Announces She Wants To ‘Take A Big Break’ From Music

Adele has announced her plans to take an extended break from music following her current series of concerts. In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, the singer expressed feeling drained and in need of a significant hiatus.

“My tank is quite empty at the minute,” Adele shared ahead of her 10-date residency in Munich. “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while. You know, I don’t even sing at home at all. How strange is that?”

Since releasing her last album in 2021, Adele has been performing in a weekend residency in Las Vegas, recently completing her 90th show at the 4,000-capacity Caesar’s Palace. The show will be concluding in November, and the singer said the experience had been emotionally draining.

“Even though it’s a very manageable size of crowd, it’s really been an emotional exchange,” she said. “I’m sure I’ll feel even more like [that] every night after the shows in Munich. But it’s a positive thing. It’s just such an exchange of energy.”

The Munich residency will be a stark contrast to her Las Vegas performances, with 74,000 fans expected each night in a specially-constructed “pop-up” stadium. This venue will also feature an “Adele experience,” complete with an English pub, a stage for a cover band, and stalls selling specially designed cocktails. Organisers are aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the largest outdoor screen ever, measuring 220 meters in length.

Adele expressed her excitement for the upcoming shows on Instagram, posting pictures of the venue and calling the setup “bloody exciting.” She highlighted that the massive video installation would enhance the experience for her fans. “They just want to see your face and know it’s you, so the screens are enormous.”

Her fans will have to savor these performances before she steps away from the spotlight for a much-needed rest.
