The ball has been set rolling for the All Progressives Congress to hold its national convention on February 26th as well as for party members seeking to emerge national chairman of the ruling party.
This is just as the National Assembly on Wednesday expunged a clause in the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill making it mandatory for political parties to use direct primaries for the selection of candidates seeking elective office.
Both chambers are expected to set up a joint committee to harmonise the differences in the bill, prior to its passage and transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.
To discuss the upcoming convention of the ruling party and the decision by the legislature to yield to the demands of the president on the Electoral Bill, is Senator Abubakar Umar Gada, a member of the APC and former Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum in the 7th National Assembly.
