Chairperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri speaks on what the government is doing to ensure that Justice is served in the case of Ogochukwu Alika, a Nigerian man killed in Italy.
In an interview on Thursday during The Morning Show, Dabiri states that the Italian government and Nigerian Committee contributed a total of 15,000 euros to Ogochukwu’s wife and they’ve demanded a job be given to her to keep her busy and provide for her family.
She adds that the Nigerian community is planning a protest, the Italian government is collaborating, the Nigerian ambassadors are looking into the matter, and the Nigerian embassy will make sure that justice is served.
“Italian government are cooperating and we have agreed that this is a death that didn’t need to happen.
“Nigerian Ambassadors are on top of the issue, Nigerian community is actively involved, they are protesting to demand for justice and the Nigerian Embassy will definitely make sure this is not swept under the carpet.”
Although there’s crime all over the world and the world is getting tougher, her job is to ensure that Nigerian won’t be punished for a crime they didn’t commiy. Dabiri admonishes Nigerians to make sure they don’t do anything wrong.
“Nigerians should ensure they didn’t do anything wrong and if done, the Mission and Nigeria government will ensure that you’re not punished for a crime you didn’t commit.”
On the subject of the killing of 2 Nigerians in Canada, Tosin Amos and Eze in a nightclub, Abike says that as of today, a suspect has been profiled but not yet arrested and the government has sent a notice to look out for the person and if seen should be reported.
