An 11-year-old boy died and four children were injured after a car crashed into a Melbourne primary school in Australia

An 11-year-old boy has tragically died, and several other children sustained serious injuries following a car crash at a primary school in Melbourne, Australia.

The accident occurred on Tuesday when a vehicle, driven by a 40-year-old woman, smashed through the school’s fence, colliding with a group of children.

The driver was promptly arrested at the scene and remains in police custody. According to a statement from the police, the woman’s passenger, a child of primary school age, was unharmed in the incident.

The 11-year-old boy was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries but, despite medical efforts, later succumbed to his injuries. Four other children—two girls, aged 11, and a 10-year-old boy and girl—were also taken to the hospital, where they are being treated for serious injuries.
